NEVINE MICHAAN: KATONAH YOGA
Nevine is the founder of Katonah Yoga in New York. Born in Egypt in 1954, Nevine moved to New York at the age of three. In her early 20’s, while studying history and comparative religion at Vassar College, she discovered meditation. She understood that there is a function, a formality and a fit to the universe and that yoga is a tool, a technique – a practice with repetition which gives us the opportunity to participate in life with intelligence and joy. Nevine started a daily practice in NYC with renowned yoga instructor Allan Bateman in the 1970s and became fully immersed in what would become her life’s work. She began teaching Yoga in 1980, and founded the Katonah Yoga Center in Katonah, New York in 1984. Nevine continues to teach both online and in person through her studio and others’.

The following year she started a formal daily practice in the tradition of Ashtanga Yoga with Eddie Stern. Lindsay took several trips to Mysore, India to study under the Ashtanga Yoga lineage holder Paramaguru R. Sharath Jois. In 2017 Jois granted her the special honor of a Level II Authorization to teach in the traditional style of Ashtanga Yoga. Lindsay works with students of all ages and experience levels in both public classes and in private settings.

ELLE & REBECCA: LEAD TEACHERS
Elle Randall and Rebecca Haber are the owners of Ritual Yoga. The fates of these two local yoga teachers and mamas have been intertwined since 2012 when both trained at Yoga Vida in New York City. Elle has since completed a mentorship with Katonah Yoga, Advanced Sequencing training with Laughing Lotus, and multiple immersions with The Studio. She also has a certification in mat Pilates through Equinox. Rebecca has taught at studios in NYC and LA including Red Diamond Yoga and Love Yoga in Venice. Both Elle and Rebecca are passionate about helping others cultivate joy through the practice of yoga. In their view, yoga doesn't stop when class is over. Everything we do on the mat is applicable to everyday life. We use the practice as a means to build our emotional tool kit, and the more we practice, the more those tools show up in our everyday lives.
